Steve McMahon joined Everton in 1979 and in a four year spell played over 100 games scoring 11 goals before moving to Aston Villa.
He returned to Merseyside becoming the first signing of new manager Kenny Dalglish in September 1985 for £350k. McMahon made over 270 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 50 goals in all competitions.
His first goal for Liverpool, just a week after his debut was the winner against his former club Everton with the Reds winning 2-1 and in his six seasons at Anfield he helped Liverpool win three First Division league titles and two FA Cup finals before joining Manchester City at the end of 1991 on Christmas Eve for £900k.
Steve played for England 17 times.
