Peter Bowler
International Cricketer, After Dinner Speaker and Match Day Host
Peter spent twenty years on the professional cricket circuit representing Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Somerset and Tasmania. An opening batsman, who spent most of those twenty years evading some of the world's fastest bowlers, not always successfully.Having said that he did manage to hit a few, and scored just under 20,000 runs in first-class cricket with 45 hundreds and was England's top run scorer in 1992.
A batsman much maligned because for his slow scoring, Devon-born but Australia-raised Peter Bowler finished with over 19000 runs at 40.51 in a career which took in three counties and one state.
Peter retired at the end of the 2004 season aged 41, one of county crickets elder statesman, to take up a career in corporate law and now works as a legal consultant.
He recalls his career, and the many humorous experiences both on and off the field, having played with and against many of the game's greatest players and characters.
