Jimmy Bright

Friday 30th March was the date for the first LMG Corporate Golf Day at The Carholme Golf Club in Lincoln.
18 Teams entered the event which were  a mixture of Golf Clubs, Social Clubs, Pubs and other suppliers.
The teams all enjoyed bacon butties on arrival and then all 18 teams Tee’d off at 11.00am.
In perfect playing conditions the 72 players carded some excellent scores.
After all the score cards were scrutinised the winners by 1 point were The Moorlands Club with Lawless Engineering team in a close second.
Following the presentations and superb meal the 72 golfers and guests were entertained by North West after dinner comedian Jimmy Bright.
Jimmy soon had his audience in fits of laughter with his rapid quick fire gags and ability to build an instant rapport.

Paul Merson

On Friday 23rd March March 2012 Paul Merson ex premiership and international footballer was the principal guest  and after dinner speaker at the 2nd sportsmen’s  dinner hosted by Ruston’s Football Club at their social club in Lincoln.

Guests were treated to a very memorable evening.
Paul  told his audience all about his rise through through the junior ranks to becoming a 1st team regular at Arsenal F.C.
He had everyone in fits of laughter recalling many stories, especially of his time when he shared a house with Paul Gascgoine and Jimmy Five Bellies when he was playing for Middlesborough.
He also told his audience of the more unfortunate side to his life which has seen him been admitted to an Alcohol and Gambling rehabilitation centre.
Paul worked really hard and he proved to be a very talented and popular guest and after dinner speaker

The excellent evening, with 3 course dinner, was concluded by the excellent  comedian Zack Stevens

John Parrott MBE

On Thursday 22nd  March 2012 John Parrott MBE was the principal guest  and after dinner speaker at the fifth black tie dinner of the current season hosted by Lincoln Sportsman’s Club.

Once again club members and guests were treated to a very memorable evening. John, who only started playing snooker when he was 12, told his audience all about his rise through the snooker ranks from his humble beginnings in Liverpool to eventually winning the World & UK championships in 1991.
He had everyone in stitches recalling many stories, supported by great impressions, of Alex Higgins, Jimmy White and Willie Thorne in particular.
He also talked fondly of his 6 years on Question of Sport where his opponent captain was Ally McCoist. Although he spoke little of his love of horse racing he did amaze everyone with a superb stand-up comic routine, as good as any professional. A very talented and popular guest and after dinner speaker

The excellent evening, with 5 course dinner at the Bentley Hotel, was concluded by the excellent Manchester comic Austin Knight on his second visit to the club.

Paul Merson

Ruston’s Sports and Social Club are holding their 2nd sportsmen’s  dinner Friday 24th March 2012, 7.30pm at their sports ground, Newark Road, Lincoln. The main after dinner speaker for the evening is former professional footballer Paul Merson.
His playing career included spells at Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Portsmouth.

Paul also played for his country England 21 times.

He was a skilful forward who later in his career dropped more into the midfield. Paul then went on to become player at Walsall.
Paul now works with Sky TV as a soccer pundit as well entertaining audiences at after dinner events.
Paul is a very “colourfull” character and very popular after dinner speaker.
Paul will be supported by comedian Zack Stevens, so the sell out audience really have a fantastic night to look forward to.

John Parrott OBE

Lincoln Sportsman’s Club are holding their fifth black tie dinner of the current season on Thursday 22^nd March 2012, 7.30pm at The Bentley Hotel, Newark Road, South Hykeham, Lincoln. The main after dinner speaker for the evening is former world professional snooker champion John Parrott.
Due to his engaging personality and humorous nature he was invited to be a captain on the hugely successful BBC show A Question of Sport for 6 years with regular sidekick Ally McCoist.

For the past decade John has been one of the main faces for the BBC snooker team both as a pundit and presenter and currently works on the Derby, Royal Ascot and Grand National for the BBC racing team. He has an in depth knowledge of sport and follows not only horse racing and snooker but his beloved Everton football club. And for the past few years he’s been working hard on his golf handicap which currently stands at 2. John still performs snooker exhibitions and, with his charismatic personality, he is an engaging and humorous after dinner speaker.

John will be supported by comedian and former professional footballer John Stiles, son of world cup winning Nobby, so we really do have a strong sporting theme on 22^nd. Prior to all this entertainment the Bentley will be providing us with an excellent 5 course dinner of duck parfait, topside of beef, lemon roulade, cheese & biscuits and coffee & mints. Gordon Sherry was the top table guest at the Carholme Golf Club on Satuarday 25th February.
After Dinner speakers who can talk about golf are few and far between but Gordon is real value for money.

Former Amateur Champion and Walker Cup winning member had the audience listening to every word from his great golf stories.

He described  the emotions of the 1^st tee at such events as the British Open and US Masters and gave behind the ropes stories of what the top players were really like.

What else can be said?

It is a fact when comedians or comediennes are talked of prior to people attending a   performance and actually seeing a performer live, the assumption is often made that they will use bad language, dress scruffy, won’t be funny and can’t possibly have a great   singing voice.
Nothing can be further from the truth when these assumptions are directed at A Jay.
She has fifteen cruises under her belt as guest comedienne, several performances in the Middle East, numerous family shows at large holiday centres around England not to mention hundreds of cabaret appearances at theatres, dinners, golf clubs and military venues.  Almost always rebooked indicates the popularity and suitability of her performances.

She feels no need to use gutter language and verbal abuse directed at her audiences as some contemporary comediennes lean towards these days for laughs.Her delivery of slick humour, coupled with a big delivery of songs from her very powerful voice is always a winner.

Ok, if you still insist on pigeon holing her, a true likeness is somewhere between Marti Caine and Jane McDonald, so she is often told by her audiences after watching her show.
